Women
are sexualized in almost every aspect of life now in days. Women are labeled in
all different ways from media, sports, to even the most basic things. One topic
that women are being sexualized in is Music. Women are being sexualized in
every type of genre of music from Rap, Rock, and even country music. Almost all
people have a certain genre of music they listen to and more than likely there
is a certain song that is in that genre that sexualizes women. Although more
people feel that women are sexualized more often in Rap and Hip Hop, research
shows that in Country and Rock women are just as much sexualized as any other
genre. Women are given a negative
picture in Rap and Hip Hop songs being referred to in negative slang and codes
of the culture. Although most people just assume Rap is the main genre that
sexualizes women this is false. In research it shows that women are sexualized
in many different ways in other genres of music. In country songs women can be
seen as a sex symbol from their looks and background growing up. Almost all
music sexualizes women in some way or another, but most people do not catch on
to it. Although women are sexualized in most songs it is also not uncommon for
men to be sexualized in songs as well. It is a gender norm that is more common
than ever now in days that keeps us interested in certain genres of music.
